This article analyzes the scarcity of structured open data in Latin American countries with a gender focus in STEM areas, through research on open data platforms related to Higher Education. In this regard, the challenges of obtaining such data are discussed, emphasizing the effort required to ensure that existing data can be reused and integrated, in order to compare data from heterogeneous sources and benefit future STEM research more broadly.
